ROLE OVERVIEW:
 

The Prevention Educator and Community Engagement Coordinator will represent Claire’s Community and develop and implement initiatives that increase visibility, connection, and collaboration among the broader community. This role is vital to our work, preventing relationship violence through education and awareness. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator, experienced facilitator, and enthusiastic community builder who believes in empowering people of all ages to foster healthy relationships. This position also coordinates communication and information flow among #BMLC’s stakeholders: board members, leadership, staff, funders, volunteers, and others in the community.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Education and Facilitation:

  • Facilitate age-appropriate relationship violence prevention programs in school or group settings, including Have a HEART, Safe Dates, and Live Respect.

  • Co-facilitate Parents Matter! and the Askable Adult Campaign, along with other sessions for parents, adults, and caregivers.

  • Recruit, train, and support coaches implementing Coaching Boys Into Men. 

  • Deliver engaging, trauma-informed, and inclusive presentations that resonate with diverse audiences.

  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with classroom teachers and school administrators.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to identify and develop new opportunities for expanding prevention education.

  • Assist with program evaluation and documentation to ensure continuous improvement.

 

Community Outreach and Engagement:

  • Lead outreach efforts to build partnerships with schools, youth organizations, and community groups.

  • Organize outreach events, including marketing and planning, to promote the organization's programs.

  • Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.

  • Nurture new and existing relationships with collaborative partners.

  • Work with staff, board, and volunteers to assist in organizing special events, including donor/volunteer appreciation events. 

  • Compile accurate records of outreach activities and the number of attendees.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure effective communication and coordination of outreach efforts.

  • Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and conferences.

  • Consult with the Executive Director to:

    • Develop effective communication procedures and policies for various situations or crises.

    • Draft press releases and communicate with media outlets and journalists. 

    • Collaborate in annual budget creation and follow-through activities.

  • Write letters, emails, office memos, and other business correspondence.

  • Work with the Digital Content Designer to:

    • Create content for brochures and other marketing materials.

    • Develop content and maintain a strong presence on social media.

  • Collect and analyze data on local demographics, develop results, and present the conclusions to the relevant staff and board.

  • Recruit and train volunteers to assist with outreach efforts and fundraising events, support them, track their performance, and keep records of their activities.


 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

​

  • High school diploma (or GED equivalent) and two years of office experience or two years of post-secondary education.

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working in a professional office setting that required planning, organizing, and meeting deadlines as shown in the application materials.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as demonstrated by interview and application materials.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, as evidenced by work experience and application materials.

  • Experience working with, or comfortable learning, a variety of systems and applications (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office suite, Canva, website management tools, and database management software, such as Little Green Light) as evidenced by training or work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

​

Demonstrate in your application materials how you meet the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Outreach or community engagement experience.

  • Written communications and social media experience.

  • Background in education, social work, public health, or related field.

  • Experience in outreach, community engagement, or a related field.

  • Experience working with youth, families, and/or schools.

  • Experience collaborating and communicating with individuals from varying cultures, backgrounds, and levels of authority.

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage several projects simultaneously within tight timelines.

  • Little Green Light, QuickBooks Timesheets, Facebook, Instagram, and other relevant software applications.

  • Experience with budget management and fiscal process support.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work in an evolving environment with enthusiasm.

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships, working effectively to support a diverse, multicultural, gender-inclusive environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds at times.

COMPENSATION: 

The starting salary range is $24-$25/hour or $49,920-$52,000 annually, based on experience and expertise.

While this position does not include traditional benefits at this time, we offer a competitive salary and the chance to work in a flexible, supportive environment.
